I've no idea what the manufacturing process is for ereaders, but it really is a lottery when it comes to the screens. It seems you were one of the unlucky ones. I sent my Aura back straight after I noticed pinpricks, but I'm sure there are many Kobo users who haven't had any issues. It's the same with my Nook. I've had no problems, but there were others who had issues.
It just is what it is. Unless the quality control for ereaders is increased, this is something we will all have to deal with. Which I find irksome, as it seems the standard is lower for ereaders than other computing devices.
