To get the updated plugins to work with calibre, I had to completely uninstall both of them, restart Marvin, and then re-install them. I don't know if that's because the first time I tried I re-installed the Marvin plugin first or because of the calibre updates.
p.s. This is not a complaint, just a heads up to those who might run into the same issue. I am thrilled with the updates!
