No fuss at all. The beauty lies in this one big continues story. Most everything is important, many things WILL come back later in newer books. If something does not make sense, be patient, it will resurface and come back later. Interwoven in the story are many clues and hints for later. And almost everytime you think you got it, there will be a new twist that changes everything. The books only appear to have one finished case in it - in reality it is one huge story broken into small chunks. After a few books it will make more sense. People evolve, relationships evolve, most people will be back, even some villians. More more and more, never really gets boring.

The worst will be waiting for the next book if you are caught up.
