Snapping at people usually only escalates the snapping on all sides and doesn't help anyone in the long run. Far better to say "I tried that but maybe I didn't hit on the right search terms. Can you please point me to the relevant thread?"
(Which isn't to say I am not equally guilty of such behavior myself at times.
