I can testify as to this being a good book. I just got through listening to it, having bought the Kindle ebook and the audiobook as a Whispersync.

A book on this subject could easily be dry, but this one is not. The author does a great job of making the facts interesting. Also, he does not cover every pope, but mainly those that he deems more significant. He brings in concomitant history related to the pontiffs when discussing them.

It's a good listen, and I'm sure it is a good read, too.
