I'm one of the persistent ones. I had problems with my first T68, and so I returned it to Amazon. The second turned out to be slightly worse problem-wise. That, too, was returned. For me, number three has been the charm. This one actually works flawlessly!

The T68 is a fine eReader, especially if you invest the time in choosing your preferred reading app(s) and setting them up to your taste. If I looked at the T68 simply as an eReader, I'd say it was fine but that I found the Kindle Paperwhite to be slightly more satisfying overall (and I started out as a Nook Simple Touch fan). However, where the T68 really comes through for me is in being able to install Android apps that are all text or pretty much so. I can't install Instapaper or Logos Bible Software on a Kindle! I don't expect it to replace a Nexus 7, but if you like how eInk is easier on the eyes and if you like the option of installing some Android apps that rely on text, I doubt you'll find a better option out there than the T68. Onyx needs to improve their quality control somewhat, as I have bought eReaders from Nook, Kindle and Kobo, and this is the first time I have sent one back, let alone two! Still, if yours works as advertised, it's great.

PS - I found that Greenify helps battery life!
