Recently Amazon began releasing the existing model with extra memory. Why would they bother if they're about to release a new model?
There have been no leaks or substantiated rumors. No hints in the FCC. By now we would have heard something.
Basically, Amazon doesn't have anything new to add to the Kindle. I suppose they could water-proof it...
I suppose they could release a different-sized Kindle. Except they won't. One size fits all.

They would release the extra-memory model to reduce inventory in advance of something new.
I'm not willing to bet against you but it would be unprecedented for Amazon not to release a new Kindle model with some new features. Last year's PW2 release was pretty low-key but did reinforce this expectation. It was also the first time I didn't buy the new model.
I'm still pretty happy with my PW1, but am doing more reading on my Fire HD and smartphone (about a third on each) because they support TTS/audiobooks. If and when they add popup footnotes to the apps I would use PW1 even less. So I'm not sure what it would take for me to buy a new PW or whatever it will be called. A Liquavista screen maybe? I don't see buying another Fire tablet either. I just don't like the Appstore.
