List View problems with 2.1

The list view doesn't stretch across the screen like it used to. Instead, everything is pushed to the left, cutting off book titles and leaving a blank space on the right. I only show title, author, size and file type, but this has never been a problem until I upgraded to 2.1 (I skipped from 1.48 to 2.1). I'm on a 13" MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.4 (in case that is any help in solving this issue).

I tried changing to narrow view, with the book cover & info on the bottom but it made no difference in how the list view is displayed. It still fills only half the available space. I can stretch the columns to where I want them to my heart's content, only to have them right back where they want to be once I restart Calibre. The window stays where I put it when in cover view, but I prefer using list view.

How do I get Calibre to keep my column width preferences?
