Bee-Tee-Ess - do you normally download from download.com, because I suspect your problems are much more likely to be caused by them than by IDM.

Perhaps you use their software update gadget (the thing that tells you there is a new version of something). I would only ever use that service as a notifier, and do the actual downloads from originators site - eg calibre-ebook.com, piriform.com etc. It may take a bit longer because its an extra step, but its normally safer (no Open Candy or Bunndle crap to dodge) and the downloads are often faster, lots faster e.g. a calibre download fromm calibre-ebook.com usually max's out my line (16Mbs).
