I sent an email to customer care, but they acknowledged that the store does not yet support Indian cards properly and that it does make my Kindle next to useless but gave no clue if there's a way to buy. I'm very unhappy with Amazon for this, especially since I didn't find on their product page this lack of support.
So I want to know, Indian users, how and where do you purchase ebooks that work perfectly with Kindle. Do you use an alternative store? I need books like "Fabric of the Cosmos" by Green which is for example very heavily discounted down to 4$, 262Rs, on the Kindle store. I hope there are ebook stores that I can buy from for comparable prices. Or if you shop from Kindle store, please let me know how you do it. (I generally use an HDFC mastercard credit or Allahabad Debit here in Kolkata, India, but without the CVV, I suspect that there's no way to do it. If there's another card that does work, please let me know, so that I can look into getting one.) Thanks.

Is there anywhere that you can buy Kindle gift cards, maybe? If you can buy a gift card and then apply it to your account that should work.
