I think Amazon's basic e-ink device for around $69 and Nook's basic Simple Touch are at the right price to remove comparisons, and I don't understand why a couple of led lights should so vastly raise the price of the e-ink devices. Having an e-ink reader and a tablet together for $200 sounds about right. We should not have these on equal footing price wise, and that's what causes consumers to choose between them right now IMO.

My Android tablet cost around $150. My Kobo Mini cost $48 at a local bookstore and is only $65 at full retail, I believe? But of course this is an unlighted device as you said - which has lead me to relearn the art of turning on a lamp.
