Interesting arguments here. Relating to the topic, it seems to me there are two worlds here: those that want cheaper books (and who doesn't) and those who do not want a monolithic source for ebooks. My concern here is that ebooks make up such a small portion of the reading market ... So will greed kill the industry before it gains a critical mass amongst readers. Also, will we become device bound ... If Kobo leaves the market, as has Sony and the verdict is still awaiting the Nook with its ties to Samsung, will the Kindle be the only viable choice left in North America .... Thus back to the monolithic source again. I fear that if Kobo and Amazon can't make money here in North America .... Then who can.
I am torn on this issue. We all want cheaper books, but at what cost.
