I was browsing through the earlier posts in this thread and came across some reading recommendations for Ben Aaronovitch's Peter Grant series. I just started the first one and I'm really enjoying it, although I occasionally need a Brit to Yank translation! If you haven't tried it, I recommend it for urban fantasy fans.
