Whether its too early or not to jump on the eReader bandwagon is a matter of personal choice and how much use you will get out of the current offerings.

I remember the first personal computer I bought...they kept getting better and cheaper; however, the longer I delayed buying, the more I deprived myself of the many opportunities where it would've made life easier.

When I finally bit the bullet, I promised myself that I wouldn't second guess my decision based on dropping prices/new features...they were a given. I never regretted it as my use far outweighed the investment. As new features came out, I stayed happy with what I had until the benefits justified the upgrade.

I see it no differently for eReaders.

As personal computers became more mainstream in households, the technology/costs stabilized a bit more and I am not as worried about the longevity. This will eventually happen to eReaders but it will take some time.

In the meantime, my Kindle has the functionality and content availability that makes my investment worthwhile.

Personally, I am saving money on my book purchasing behavior and figure that in addition to the enjoyment of having an eReader, I will have offset the cost in a year. So even if I decide to upgrade in 18-24 months, I will have no regrets.
