On the OT, in my first free month with KU, I read 2 books (retail totaling $20) and am well along on several others, with plenty more of them I want to read after that. So I don't think I'll have any trouble justifying $9.95/mo. Moreover, I find I'm much less tempted to purchase Deal of the Day/Month offerings so I'm probably saving at least $10/mo there alone. Many of these are in KU so I don't feel any pressure to 'own' them (and hope to someday have time to read them).
So instead of spending money for books I will probably never find time to read, I'm paying for access to books that I actually read.
