Dear Susan,

Thank you for your quick response! So it is as I suspected. I would have thought, however, that the metadata, most of which is not stored within the file itself (which I find annoying in other situations) would enable me to include information (e.g. a book cover) that is stored not in the PDF, but in Calibre and could then be sent to the Kindle alongside the PDF file. But then, this might be just my own dream of a system.

Including a cover within the PDF (i.e. to insert a new page with the cover as the first page of the PDF) does not work (at least I didn't get it to work).

ETA: You could, of course, add an in-line image, but it wouldn't be "seen" as a cover.
