And lets just go over the basics.
  1. You have a custom column with lookup name myshelves
  2. You have only one of the KoboTouch and KoboTouchExtended drivers enabled; the other is either not installed, or is disabled
  3. Which ever driver IS enabled, has #myshelves included in the list of columns to use for creating shelves in the driver configuration options
  4. You have the option Create Bookshelves selected in the driver configuration options
  5. Optionally you have selected Delete Empty Shelves in the driver configuration options
  6. Optionally you have selected Set Series information in the driver configuration options (if you HAVE done this you could also add series to the list of columns to use for creating shelves; separate it by a "," from #myshelves so that you have #myshelves,series)
    (The difference in syntax is that myshelves is a user added column, while series is a built in one. User Added columns are referenced by adding a # to them; built in ones are referenced just by name.)
  7. Preferences | Sending books to devices has Metadata Management set to Automatic
