why would I want it? because I like it, and, if possible, I would like my e-books to look as close possible to the print ones. I even go in bookstores and check for the typefaces used to print, and then I try them in my books. I know, you will all say that an e-book is not hard copy, but still...
I am reading on a T68 with cool reader or alreader.
You cannot put up a chapter header and then have the text start halfway down the screen. It doesn't work that way. You can to specficy the space before and after the chapter header and then the chapter text can start after the white space under the chapter heading.

What works in most cases is a size of 1em, chapter heading (that includes any ornaments and whatnot), 1em, chapter text.

You see, you have different screen sizes such as phone, 6", 5", 8", 9.7", 6.8" eInk, computer screens, and tablets. So you cannot do the chapter text starting at have the screen. You have too many different screens to do this with. The software doesn't do it. ADE doesn't do it and it's the most used software to display ePub. If iBooks did it, it would do it in a way that didn't work elsewhere. Marvin probably doesn't do it and Bluefire sure as heck doesn't do it. Monano (sp?) won't do it. Moon+ won't do it and that doesn't leave that many others to do it if they even do do it.

The thing is, I've found that a lot of people dislike an excessive amount of white space for the header and an excessive amount of margins doesn't go over well either. I like no margins, but a lot of people like a mall margin. Just enough so the text isn't butting against the bezel and any bezel shadowing will not be on top of the text. A margin of 5pt top, left, and right is good. No need for a bottom margin in most cases.

So if this is an ePub for sale, please don't do the excessive white space. It won't go over all that well. If it's not for sale, feel free to do whatever you want.
