After trying to download a Kobo eBook onto my PC I abandoned the process when Adobe Digital Editions wanted an Adobe ID (I have downloaded Kobo books through ADE 8 months ago.) I will have to dig around for my ID

In C:\Users\<me>\AppData\Local\Temp folder there is an REWFY.exe file.

No trace when I searched the web with Startpage, DuckDuckGo and Google

Is this a plant by ADE or my online activities with Kobo?

Would appreciate any comments ... thank you
You used Adobe Digital Editions so I would guess that ADE is still on your computer somewhere.
Start ADE and use the menu bar to navigate to: Help > Authorization Information to view your current authorization status.
If it states "This computer has already been authorized". Then all you have to do is to connect your Kobo ereader.
In "Library View" the Kobo reader should show up under "Devices" on the left side of the screen. Click on the device settings to authorize your Kobo device.

Edit: Or try this
