Axis gives you an epub option. Kindle has two advantages over epub: 1) wireless transfer of books; and 2) Whispersync pricing.

Can't you get a free Brooklyn library card? Brooklyn has one of the largest OverDrive ebook collections in the country. It's almost 3x larger than FLP.
