My grandmother made them for me. I still have one she made, though it is pretty love worn, tucked away in the closet. She even made different outfits for my monkey to wear. Mine was a girl monkey, and my brother had a boy monkey. Before she passed away she even made monkeys for each of my 3 sons. They didn't make it through my kids childhood, they were pretty rough on them. I noticed in a picture my niece sent me of her son that he was holding a sock monkey. I think she bought it on Etsy, I would have to ask her to be certain.
I guess you could say sock monkeys run in our family
Every morning when I see Tubemonkey's avatar it makes me smile!
