In the UK I'd highly recommend the Bookeen CyBook, which you can get from W H Smith online for a penny under £180 (includes VAT, p&p and a nice case).

Then you'll be able to read any Mobipocket format ebooks from any of the numerous ebook stores that sell Mobipocket format ebooks.
In general, US ebook stores are cheaper the UK ones so I'd recommend
