Your mileage may very ... I have upgraded two AuraHDs and both function fine without any problem with the power switches. My oldest one, after having opened and closed it over ten times, had enough of the "clips" damaged that I had to grip the edge for some spots on the screen to be recognized by the touchscreen. I later added a hatch on the back so that I could easily extract the internal uSD card. (In adding a Bluetooth adapter to that older one I had to use a heatgun to expand the back of the case to allow room for everything. As a side effect of that the case fits tight enough that there is no issue with the touchscreen anymore.) Both are working fine.

There is always some risk, but it is more that a mistake on the part of the one making the modification occurs, rather than that the process itself is risky.

If you doubt your ability to make a mod, you should not try it.
