There's always the option of sticking with the tablet until you can afford an e-ink reader in addition. That would be my choice. I have both a tablet (or two) and a reader (or five; not sure where they came from!), and I feel they complete each other well.

I tried using the Nexus for reading, and it usually works for a book or two, but reading on an e-ink screen is noticeably easier on my eyes and thus more enjoyable. As discussed previously, I also find it easier to fall asleep after reading on a frontlit e-ink device compared to a LCD backlit one.

Additionally, I have exactly the same issue with distraction when I read on the tablet. Checking emails, looking up something on Wikipedia (then playing information-seeking Tarzan and swinging from link to link), reading forums for a bit, and so forth. An e-ink reader is like a blissful island of isolation: just the book and I. It helps immersion and actually relaxes, instead of making me feel as if I were at work or attempting to read in a busy room full of nagging people.
