Why is that because of the paranormal aspect?
(I wouldn't really consider, say, fairies, to be
bestiality. Which is the only explanation I can see.)
Religions may see any sex scenes as a deal breaker even for adults -- thus invalidating a whole lotta books that aren't paranormal in the slightest, but apparently my mother doesn't have any problem with thrillers -- or the usual rant against magic and satanism or something.
But the handful of times I have heard objections about the inappropriateness of fantasy books, it always seemed to be based on the assumption that somehow fantasy books are intrinsically dirtier. And I always ask how that can be so, when all the evidence is against that And I never got a good explanation.
(My mother never did answer how thrillers are less dirty than fantasy, so if anyone has an explanation -- I have been trying to find out for years.
