My first tablet with an iPad 2, but I eventually made the switch to Android and picked up a Nexus 7 (2013). Tablets are evolving so fast, and while I can justify €250-300 every 12-18 months for the latest and newest to satisfy the Inner Geek, the €600 that Apple wants (while also locking me in) is more than I'm comfortable with. One of the iPad models became "last gen" in less than a year even.
But that aside, I just prefer the greater freedom of Android in general (plug it in my laptop to shuffle files around, code a small app and put it on the device without any hassle, switch manufacturers, greater variety in terms of features/sizes, etc.).
