If you really want to change it, it's fairly simple, at least under Windows. You just delete the existing Kobo driver(s) in Device Manager, and then Windows will pick it up fresh when you next plug the reader in.

To anyone about to ask how to go about that - don't. If you're not familiar enough with your system to understand what to do from the shorthand, it's probably best to leave things be. No insult intended; I just don't want to be responsible for anyone messing something up...and for those who don't know, I had surgery yesterday and thus consider myself incapable of giving detailed information on such a subject for at least the next week. Especially from memory.
What I wanted to know was if anyone else was seeing the 3.4.1 string for a 3.5.0 device or if I was having an issue with my computer. I'm quite willing and able to do a search and destroy in device manager but didn't want to bother if others were seeing the same. I knew it was not a consistent issue since my wife's Aura was detected as a 3.5.0 device.

So given the information posted by others suggested I should be seeing a 3.5.0 device, I used USBdeview to remove all the Kobo devices from the disconnected USB device list, reconnected the Aura and after the driver install, it showed up as a 3.5.0 device, connected my Aura HD and it showed up as a 3.4.1 device.

Tried the show non-present devices set for device manager, enabled show hidden in device manager and removed all the Kobo related entries including volumes, usb mass storage devices, etc. Reconnected my Aura HD and finally it showed up as a 3.5.0 device.

Victory is mine! Mmwahahaha...

Regards,
David
