Think you should carefully consider the formats you buy, the Sony Reader's ability to render them accurately, and DRM issues.
My wife and I buy almost all of our books in LIT format. These can be easily converted to other formats so that your investment is protected if/when you change devices. LIT preserves formatting nicely, doesn't have the reflow issues that PDF has, etc. MOBI and eReader formats are other good choices as well IMO.
