If I didn't have to switch to AT&T and if the only comments on the hotspot weren't negative, I might consider it (although mostly for a family member, maybe, and not me). I have apps I've bought that I would not want to have to re-purchase (plus, some aren't in the Amazon appstore, only at Google). Hopefully, though, it will allow sideloading, as the other Fires do (unlike the nook tablets, unless you root them).
ETA: I doubt the game will work on other devices, as I suspect it uses the unique features of the Phone, either 3D or other.
