Looking at my family and friends, people are buying the cheaper Android tablets unless they really have their heart set on Apple. And, honestly, a lot of them are buying for KIDS...and I wouldn't buy a $500 device for an 8-year-old, ever. The younger kids' tablets tend to have cracked screens and be abused a bit because kids are careless.
