Nearly always, it's the factory reset that fixes everything. It's just a pain though if you like to keep a large library because now you have to reload it and reshuffle into assorted collections.

I agree with Tarana--a factory reset will most likely fix the slowness. It does mean having to re-load everything you want on your PW, but you'd be doing this anyway if you purchase a new reader.
Also, if there are books you no longer need on your KPW, leaving them off will free up space and could help to speed up your KPW.
