Unfortunately, if you're not an aficionado, someone who is can press you so far that you'll end up not being able to really defend your position. That's an expertise issue, not a 'lack of desire to debate' issue.
To put it another way - if I tell you that I like the way an iPhone works versus an Android, you could ask me why. That's a legitimate request. I could give you a few reasons, and any Android fan worth his salt would then tell me that I could acquire a different launcher and additional software to make it work the way I want. I'll point out a hole in that argument (it's unstable). They'll reply with their own (what version of Android were you using?). Then I'll reply (an older one - my camera software stopped working on the new one). Then they'll respond (did you invert the transflux capacitor on the second notification light?).
And on, ad nauseum. It really does become an endless rabbit hole after a while. And all because I said that I liked the way my phone worked.
