Cover grid not updating in large window

I've been running calibre for years (thanks Kovid!) and only this week noticed something odd.

If my calibre window is full size on my secondary screen (1050 x 1680, portrait mode) all is well. But if I move the calibre window to be full size on my main screen (2560 x 1440, landscape), the cover grid will intermittently not display. Screenshots below.

Also, calibre gets quite sluggish when in this state, not responding to clicks for several seconds. Sometimes random covers will display briefly but then disappear again. Pull the window back to the portrait screen and all is well again. Switching off cover grid works too.

It's not a critical problem, but it was confusing until I figured out that moving the window back to the first screen fixes things.

calibre 1.46, Mac OS X 10.9.4, ATI Radeon HD 5870 (1024 MB VRAM) running 3 displays via DVI.
