Tell that to all the people in rural areas still struggling with 22kbps dialup (yea, like anybody actually achieved 56 kbps throughput).
Seriously though, I always love the pundits who seem to assume that the technology experience they have in the city is world-wide; broadband penetration of < 60% is not what I would call "everywhere"; if you happen to live in South Korea or Sweden this future may apply to you, but as long as the telcos keep their stranglehold on communications it won't happen in America.
