That particular stand is great for a full-sized iPad (we have two of these stands hereabouts). For a smaller form factor, like a Kindle Wifi or iPad mini, I find the positions it can be in (viewing angles) are much more limited. Sometimes I'd like to have it at a shallower angle than that stand allows. (If you tilt the stand back past a certain point, the smaller devices aren't tall enough to touch the top point of the stand, i.e., they would fall through.)
For traveling, for my iPad, I use a case that rotates around and under to make a stand (vertical or horizontal, with several angle choices), then closes to protect the screen.
What I haven't found is the ideal stand for reading while lying down.
