Their help documentation is however incorrect and is the cause of their confusion.

Here is a link to a book that has all the file formats. Where the ePUB, and PDf are different icons.

You know I'm real surprised that they chose to release this as a PDF vs. an ePUB version.

That said I am also skeptical that the PDF will work just like the ePUB. Unless the PDF was created for the SONY, and I doubt that.

The good news is PDF books bought from FictionWise and BoB tend to reflow much better than the average PDF. So it should not be to bad.
