That's the way I am with Lychee. I just finished another half kilo of them last night. Until I moved to S.E. Asia, I never realized that the outer peel was leathery and red. I'd only seen them as brown and crack-able. The taste difference is amazing, with the juice running down your arms like when eating peaches from a road-side stand in Georgia!
