@flexy123: Yes. Although I'd *strongly* suggest forgetting about the 'waiting for a few minutes' part, and just doing it the right way (meaning making sure the file is really and safely written to disk, and not hanging around in an FS/OS buffer).
That's faily easy on Linux: umount without ejecting. On Windows, that's a whole other kettle of fish. dsmid linked to a tool which may help, but I'm not sure anyone has done this safely on any other OS than Linux.
