Yes, I know why people keep repeating Apple patented "rectangle with rounded corners". It makes the patent look ridiculous and thus they didn't have to look at the actual facts. The original case was basically that the Galaxy looked too much like the iPad, not about rectangles with rounded corners. As I recall correctly, in the US the case was eventually dropped.
If your point is that the patent system is allowing too many overly broad patents, you will certainly get no disagreements from me. I'm all for going back to the idea that patents must involved specific working devices rather than broad ideas.
