Marked text edit problem

What am I doing wrong? I hope I explain this properly.

If, in editor, I mark a section of text to make corrections, it will occasionally reverse the order of my paragraphs.

For example: I don't like having a letter (that someone reads in the story) in italics, so I remove the <em></em> tags for only the letter. I mark the required text, remove those tags, using search and replace, and it's all good.

Once in a while, however, the paragraphs get changed around. The first paragraph in the letter is now the last; second paragraph is now second to last, etc. It doesn't happen consistently, and I'm not sure if I'm doing something without realizing, so I thought I'd ask!

Yesterday I had a book with about 7 letters that I wanted to fix in this manner, and 3 out of the 7 had this problem. I'm think I did them all in the same way, but probably not or they would all be ok, or all have the 'error'.
