Your post prompted me to de-lurk for the first time to express my dismay that this situation has been around for more than a while. Really, Kobo? I feel badly for the author as well as customers.

@cromag: I had a different problem with Anya Seton's GREEN DARKNESS, one of my all-time favorite books. Nowhere does it clearly state that this title can't be read on an Android device, but, according to Kobo, the publisher has restricted its availability for download. I received a store credit for that, too, but was really glad when the customer service person gave me another 50% discount code because I'd used that to purchase the book in the first place.

All of which is a long-winded way of saying you'll get the store credit, of course, but there should be consideration for a replacement discount coupon. Don't hesitate to ask if it's not offered.

To be clear, "Just One Damn Thing After Another" is fine at Kobo--it's BOOK 2 that is messed up. If you purchase book 2, it's really book 3. And book 3 is really book 3. I can't understand why it hasn't been fixed either, but I believe the author has to do it--if it's self-pub'd. Of course, if the author did it through a distributor (such as smashwords or D2D) that could be the problem. It can take WEEKS to get a new file uploaded that way. In that case, the author would be better off pulling it from the distributor and going through Kobo to upload. BUT I don't know the author so I don't really understand the problem. Book 2 obviously exists because people are getting it from Kindle and I've been told it's fine.

It could be that for some reason the new file upload isn't happening correctly at Kobo too--I just don't know. But if it happens, you should be able to get a refund...should...and Kobo needs to block that book from being purchased until it is fixed!!!
