One Space Opera series I don't see mentioned much is Debra Doyle and James D. Macdonald's Mageworld series.

Mike Shepherd's Kris Longknife has about a dozen in the series and is contracted for more every October for the next four years. Recent books have less action than earlier ones.

Sharon Lee & Steve Miller's Liaden Universe has something like 8 out and and 5 more contracted in the pipe.

Jean Johnson's Theirs is Not to Reason Why has lots of space battles, but a bit of a Mary Sue for the heroine.

Tanya Huff's Confederation series.

Elizabeth Moon's Vatta's War series.
