I think there is a slight ambiguity with the instructions in the first post that has just caught me out, and bricked my Aura HD (I should know better, nothing that a factory reset didn't fix). Re: "These patches work only for these specific firmware versions and no other". To me this implies that any of "these" patches will work with any of "these" listed firmware versions.
I would like to suggest the instructions are changed to:
"1. Make sure your Kobo ereader is already running one of the following firmware versions (upgrade first if necessary), and the firmware version matches the version of the patch you will be applying:
3.3.0 (8eb9c1f8b2)
3.3.1 (38384a81c1)
3.4.1 (d83b1b0e2a)
3.5.0 (1ad1188b51)"
