I believe the change was in Windows 95, I think that was also when Windows Explorer (which is now File Explorer for those of us who like to keep up to date

) was introduced. Cybmole was obviously not around in '95.
Like JSWolf and yourself, I much prefer to use the more generic and descriptive term "directory", but resort to using "folder" when to do otherwise would lead to confusion with the kiddies amongst us
