Pinning a book to the home page?

Bear with me, this is what I would like:

Apart from the books I read from A to Z there are those books which I would like to dip into every now and again. Books of quotations, that sort of thing. That type of book needs to be close at hand, to just pick up and browse.
So... is there a way I can pin those books to the home page, permanently and independent of all the changing info and tiles?

I seem to remember having had a reader which could do this, may have been the Kindle, but I'm not at all sure...
