My brother and have bought a total of about 12 used Kindles on eBay and Craigslist -- so far only one was blacklisted. A Kindle 3 I bought form a pawnshop for $5. I got hold of Amazon, thinking they might want to restore the Kindle to its owner, but their only suggestion was that I take it back to the pawnshop for a refund. It doesn't hurt to ask when buying. When I sell Kindles on eBay I specifically state that they can be registered. A lot of other people (probably the majority) who sell Kindles on eBay make this clear also. You can also find Kindles on eBay that are specifically described as blacklisted, which to me are about useless.
