They look fine on a Big Paper Page where part of the goal is to make a book of a certain (marketing strategy) heft. This is  thinking in an era of largely, Internet sales and E-books

Given how a lot of eBook look, I have to agree that the people making them don't actually look at the finished eBook or they might actually fix the funky formatting.
