If they're sideloaded, saving them across a hard reset should be fairly simple. Copy the database, the books, and the image folder over to your PC, and copy the whole file system over into a different folder...you know, just in case. (In fact, if you have the tools, you may want to do a full card-image backup while you're at it - again, just in case. Better to have and not need, eh wot?) From there, you should be able to hard-reset, install 3.3.0, copy the books, database, and images back over, and go on about your day. The database won't know anything's changed, but you'll have refreshed the firmware and assorted settings.

You may have to change some settings back from default, since that method will (by design) destroy your config file, but there are worse problems to have. Namely, the lack of a light...
