That term is used that way and also just as a general term to refer to romance (even when not mocking). It probably isn't used on romance threads, but it's used in a general sense by other readers on other forums (I know because I see it--it's also used quite often when a cover depicts some of the typical poses). It's used frequently on mystery forums that way.
