I don't know whether I have an ADE installed. When I opened Kobo, it asked if it could access my keychain (I have a Mac).
Since I posted I discovered that the Reader app created an .epub, that can be found in /Users/HBrazee/Documents/My Books/Reader/
I was able to add that to Calibre.
